Year 1836: She was born when Halja rescued the soul of Bahai the Pius, horseman of the end of days in charge of protecting the soles of the devote. The group who freed the soul had two choices: 1. They could release it into the cosmos and the soul could be reborn anywhere as anyone. It would be free but unprotected and the horseman were still being hunted down by various powers that be. 2. One of the women could take the soul into themselves and give birth to it as a child. Halja, lacking for reasons to live as it was, agreed to be the host and became mother of little Hope. Aiden agreed to claim to be the father and is very dedicated to caring for her as his own.
Year 1842: Halja and Aiden renew their vows and Hope is the flower girl for the event. When Halja takes too long come out though and Hope is sent in to get her. While she never understands why, her mother seems very greatful to her for doing so. At the years end tensions of the oncoming war have become too much to bear. Her family packs up and moves to the Isle of Dragons.
Year 1853: Halja makes a lot of trips back to her homeland. This spurns an agreement for the family to live half the year in Aether, then half the year on the Isle of Dragons. Hope isn't sure about this, but she agrees when they say she can bring a friend along.
Year 1855: Finn comes to check on Odette and how she is settling in. He offers to brings letters to Hope for her as well. After, she asks him to tell her about his and Luis’ life before she knew them, which he agrees to.
Hope, Kris, Willow and Alessa go to support Ichiko after the fall of the Isle of Dragons.
Odette talks with Serena and Hope about what they are (Sisters of End Times) and how that has no purpose in their current world – but could they MAKE one?
Year 1856: Sable brings Hope along as her assistant on a diplomatic mission to Phaira - since the rest of the world BADLY needs military and religious assistance given the devastation. Upon arrival in Phaira, Sable and Hope are treated more like beggars then people of equal standing. Sable ends up struggling with negotiations because of this.
Hope makes a friend with a young noble girl, Helia Sassani, who is Aetherian but raised in Phaira (Taisie’s kid). Helia helps back up the diplomatic effort up by Hope and Sable. As a result, they get “some” help - it’s not as much as they were sent for but better than nothing. Before Hope and Sable leave, Helia says her good byes to Hope.
On the ship home, Hope laments to Sable that she was useless and Sable counters that she made a friend that changed the tide of negotiations - and sometimes all diplomacy IS, is making a friend.
Year 1857: Percy meets Hope while at a bookstore. He gets a crush on her but fumbles over his words and can’t get much out. Later, Patrick - having heard about his friend's crush on the girl - goes out of his way to invite Hope to the party and get the scope of the woman to see if she’s “worthy” of Percy. Hope comes to the double date with Percy, Monnique and Patrick attending. Patrick decides, based on his previous evaluation of Hope, if he will hook them up or destroy their chances.
Percy tries to take Hope out on a date but gets the “I just think of you as a friend” line.
